Usually bobbin will turn counter-clockwise when threaded properly. Hold bobbin so that the tail of thread is facing to left. Drop bobbin into bobbin shuttle. Pull thread toward you. Guide thread into notch and pull to left so that slot engages thread.

Pull thread diagonally across shuttle toward back of machine. Draw bobbin thread up through needle plate with threaded needle. Posted on Oct 31, 2009. When you thread the top thread, the thread will drop down on the right side of the tension mechanism and go around the bottom (clockwise) and up the left side.

Grab the thread somewhere above the tension mechanism with your right hand and then pull the toward the right (as though you are going to close the circle around the tension disk. The thread should pull on the metal wire (spring) and your thread should pop into the correct position of the tension disk. When you release the thread, the wire spring should pop back to the left. Then you will continue threading through the remaining thread guides and the take-up lever. All Singer models would have arrows/numbers to guide your top threading from the spool pin to top thread guide, for most machine start from your thread spool pin, to a thread guide follow arrow down then up into the take up lever and down to the needle thread guide then into the needle hole. Assuming you have wind and install the bobbin thread into the bobbin case, turn your hand wheel towards you makes the needle bar goes down,keep on turning till the needle bar is fully up again, pull the end of the top thread to pick out the bobbin/bottom thread. First make sure that the needle is fully up. Then you need to open the hinged front cover and unscrew the needle plate screws. Remove the bobbin. Brush out any lint now.

Remove the bobbin case. Then snap the hook retaining arms outwards.

Remove the hook cover and hook. Put no more than 2 drops of sewing machine oil on the the case (center right hand side).

Then turn the hand wheel until the hook race is in the left position. Replace the hook and then the hook cover. Snap the hook retaining arms back into position. Replace the bobbin case and bobbin. Then replace the stitch plate. Test the machine on a piece of waste fabric. If the hook keeps jamming, take the machine in for maintenance.
